Nate Diaz deserves a super fight or at least a title shot after UFC 196.
Nate Diaz is coming off of two of the best performances of his UFC career. The most recent of which was a huge submission win over Conor McGregor at UFC 196.
With the win Diaz has been blasted into superstardom which for me is very strange seeing as he has always been a huge draw. Maybe it’s because of the scalp he collected at 196 or maybe it’s cause the media and promotional officials are giving the outspoken Diaz a fair shake. Weird how things can change overnight. Anyway……
With all that being said its time to for the UFC to use Diaz’s momentum and for all parties to ‘cash in’. Nate and Dana White have both mentioned possible fights at UFC 200 against either welterweight champion Robbie Lawler or lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos. Both fights make sense for different reasons as both contests have some history to them.
Nate’s older brother Nick, fought Lawler back in the day and starched the current champion in very dominant fashion. Nate and dos Anjos met inside the cage in December of 2014 where unfortunately for Nate he lost via unanimous decision. From the casual blood thirsty fan all the way to the hardcore who never misses an event or interview, both fights appeal to the masses.
Diaz is riding a huge wave after his upset victory of McGregor and deserves nothing less than something huge for his next outing. And seems as if the promotion is close to finalizing the “money fight”. Everything is pointing to a rematch with McGregor at UFC 200 in July. With both parties being able to have a FULL CAMP to prepare, the fight would be the main event and will be a welterweight scrap.
Everything seems to finally be falling into place for him after years and years of grinding and unforgettable moments inside the Octagon.
