After a difficult journey into 2016 Bobby Green is finally set to return.
Last seen in action in November of 2014 Bobby Green battled injury and personal tragedy in 2015 and pretty much disappeared from the public eye. Now over a year later he’s back and ready to get back to his fighting best.
Green (23-6) is set to take on a dangerous fighter in Dustin Poirier at UFC 199 on June 4. Coming into the fight off of that November 2014 loss to Edson Barboza, Green has won 8 of his last 9 outings. A very unorthodox fighter the Californian is dangerous both on the feet and the ground with 8 KO’s and 9 submissions to his name. Coming into his UFC debut relatively unknown he quickly became a fan favourite due to his exciting style and his ability to cut a great promo on the mic.
Appearing on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour, Green was meant to speak about the last year, his upcoming fight and more but instead touched briefly on those things and then it got a little weird as he went back and forth with Ariel Helwani.
I’m ready. I’m ready to go.
He (Poirier) is a great fighter. I don’t know too much about the guy. His style is not my style. But he will run into a wall when he reaches me on June 4th.
Poirier (19-4) is undefeated since his jump upto lightweight with his most recent win being over Joseph Duffy at UFC 195 in January.
Green and Poirier both have good chins and it shows as between them have only been stopped by KO twice. This fight has all the ingredients to be a barn burner and possible Fight Of The Year candidate.
