Bellator will crown a women’s featherweight champion at Bellator 155.
Two long time pioneers of women’s MMA are set to meet as Julia Budd and Marloes Coenen are to meet to crown an inaugural featherweight champion.
Budd (8-2) brings a six fight win-streak into the bout. Most recently beating Roberta Rovel last November at Bellator 146. The former Invicta FC and Strikeforce fighter has wins over Germaine de Randamie, Mollie Estes and Mollie West. The 32-year old has only lost to Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes.
Coenen (23-6) is the more seasoned fighter and has tasted championship gold during her time with Strikeforce. Winning four of her last five fights Coenen, like Budd, is undefeated while under the Bellator banner. With victories over Liz Carmouche, Sarah Kaufman and most recently Arlene Blencowe Coenen would further cement her legacy by winning another title.
The fight will take during the preliminary portion of the card which is headlined by a middleweight title bout between champion Rafael Carvalho and Melvin Manhoef.
