What was expected to be a fun fight between two legends has been cancelled after one takes banned supplements.
The highly anticipated rematch between Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson that wasset to co-main event this Saturday’s UFC on Fox 19 card is off.
News broke late Wednesday night via the UFC that Machida had informed officials at the U.S Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) that he had been using a banned substance while preparing for the bout.
The supplement that was being used is called 7-Keto and it contains DHEA which is an illegal substance. A “surprised” Machida, who posted a statement on his Facebook page, insists that he had no knowledge that the above mentioned supplement was indeed banned.
I want to tell you that I really didn’t know about this substance, so I listed it on my declaration form amongst everything else I was taking.
Having lost his last two Octagon appearances to Yoel Romero and current middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, this could prove to be a very costly mistake for the former light heavyweight champion.
Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres have now been bumped upto the events co-main event. As for Dan Henderson? He made his thoughts very clear after news broke…..
