Less 24hrs away from challenging Luke Barnatt for his Venator FC middleweight title Jason “Mayhem” Miller has been removed from his bout after coming in 24lbs overweight.
Miller (23-9) will NOT compete for the middleweight belt and will instead fight in a 205-pound bout against Mattia Schivalion who was scheduled to fight on the same card. According to promotional officials Miller’s weight will be checked at 8 a.m tomorrow morning and should the former UFC and Strikeforce vet be over 207-pounds the fight will be cancelled.
Barnatt (10-3) will now face Stefen Croitoru (6-1-1) who was scheduled to compete on the same card against Mattia Schivalion. The Englishman was offered 30% of Miller’s purse aswell as an extra €5,000 to remain in the fight but turned it down.
As soon as news of the botched weight cut started breaking a tidle wave of negative comments and press came with it. Mostly aimed at Venator president Frank Merenda for allowing “Mayhem” to compete after his previous escapades while under other promotional banners. Merenda caught up with MMA Latest News and spoke about the weight cut, Miller, Barnatt and more.
