UFC 196 is heading toward promotional Gold according to Dana White.

Speaking on Thursday with Espn’s Max and Marcellus, UFC President Dana White further confirmed that UFC 196 was a huge success.

Saturday night was amazing for us. We broke so many records. It was the biggest pay-per-view we ever did, social media was ridiculous, even FOX, for the prelims on FOX, we were No. 1 on all broadcast and cable from 8-10 [p.m] in every major demographics. You know it we broke the record on Saturday night.

So UFC 196 has blown UFC 100 and EVERY other pay-per-view card the company has promoted out of the water. It was the No. 1 trending sports topic on Twitter for  ALL OF LAST WEEK.

Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, Holly Holm and Miesha Tate. These are the names that the majority of the 1.5 million people who bought the pay-per-view wanted to see. The outcome of the fights was even more spectacular. Two underdogs, coming back to earn themselves huge victories with so many watching. It’s like something out of a fairytale.

These are things that captures people’s imaginations. That’s why the thing does 1.5 million pay-per-view buys, because it captures the imagination of the fight fans and the when it lives up to the building, when it lives up to what it was supposed to be, nobody left disappointed Saturday night.

While the official numbers have yet to be released you can be assured that UFC 196 will go down in history and forever be remembered.

  1. Like or hate McGregor, he brings the eyeballs. Nate ain’t complaining. I’m happy to watch McGregor lose, but more than that, I’m happy to watch him fight. He brings it.
